Grotto

Grotto has become something of an Instagram favourite since opening earlier this year, thanks to its striking arched doorway and teal-blue façade. While you may go for the ambience, you’ll stay for the food. Its menu boasts some seriously eclectic range; there’s everything from quirky craft beers and house-made cold-brews to savoury hot dishes like “dirty chicken rice” and desserts including fermented tofu cheesecake and a daily scone special. We’ll have a pandan and shredded coconut, please.

Flames

Winner winner, chicken dinner. While this Quarry Bay stalwart offers plenty of crowd-pleasers like creamy carbonara and steak and fries, their signature rotisserie chicken is Flames’ calling card. Marinated in their secret recipe for 24 hours before being roasted on a charcoal grill, the chicken is juicy, delicious and available in two different flavours—mixed herbs with stuffing and spicy peri-peri. All-outdoor seating makes this a great dog-friendly spot too.

Hike Mount Butler

In Hong Kong, you’re never too far away from some amazing views, and Quarry Bay is no exception. Lace up your trainers for a more scenic workout and head up Mount Butler Road Green Trail for a few hours. This paved pathway passes through some lovely countryside—plus intense cardio via a stone-stepped section known as Jacob’s Ladder—before hitting the lofty summits of Mount Parker and Mount Butler. Your reward? Incredible vistas over Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and Tai Tam Reservoir.

How to get there: Turn right from Exit A, Quarry Bay MTR station and follow King’s Road for five minutes to Mount Parker Road; you’ll see a signpost for Mount Butler Road Green Trail on your right.

Verm City
